I would like to know my options before I hire an attorney. Over 2 years ago, a family member (we will call her Margie) put my name on her credit card account as a SIGNOR only. I have always made the payments on time. A few months ago, Margie's mother had passed, Margie lost her job and most of her support staff (family and friends). She is now harassing me and my other family members via email and Facebook stating I need to pay the whole amount off NOW so "she can be done with this family"and any presents I bought with that credit card must be returned to her before she sues all of us. Margie even went as far as obtained MY social security number from one of my Creditors (she made me aware of that in an email). She not only called my family members to slander me, she also called my Boss.It is a very small amount that is owed, however, her harassment and her actionsput me in a position of allowing her to take me to Court just to prove that harassment and slander is not the answer to this. Margie has been unemployed for years and I paid her under the tableto clean my house/babysit my child, her utilities, food, gas and her doctor's appointment for her (we were once close to each other). In the last 4 years, she worked at 3 different companies that she got fired from and then she turned those companies in the Labor board and EEOC. (just trying to show her character). I don't even know what type of Attorney to consult with since this is such a minimal case.
I work in a profession where my reputation is what make me succeed. All of my clients are referred to me and this is now affecting not only my clients but also my place of employment.
